Major League Baseball has returned. The St. Louis Cardinals won their first game Friday night and they won again today. The season will only be 60 games before the playoffs begin. Normally there are 162 games before the playoffs. They are advertising the 2020 Season as a sprint instead of a marathon. The baseball stadiums are devoid of fans. The players, coaches, announcers, umpires, cameramen and other essential people are the only ones allowed inside. Personally I think they should have cancelled the entire season, but the millionaires need their paychecks. Besides, they didn't ask me. This was taken in my backyard after it flew from the feeder. For some reason it made me think of Christmas. The other professional sports are getting in line to open and get their payday.

It is the same with Europe's most favourite game - Foot ball (Soccer). It looks and sounds rather lonesome without the shouting and cheering audience. At least your cardinal doesn't need shouting and cheering and so it is an ideal performer during the corona period. Nice photo well seen and captured Tick.

However, I fear we will not have sports this year. If the virus shows its ugly head at a few of these baseball, football, and basketball games and the players and support staff get ill, I can see a quick end to it all. Already there is a problem with the Blue Jays not having any home field games due to Canada's position on U.S.A. teams coming up north.
After all, we have had, as of today (July 25th), over 149,000 deaths.
You must respect MLB's decision, this virus is not under control and is not going away anytime soon.
So, Tick, if we can get these 60 games played, and the playoffs done, I would love to see your Cardinals vs my Yankees in the World Series. Keep your fingers crossed!

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), apparently financial gain has a higher priority than health. The consequences will be visible or are already visible. The second Covid-19 (Corona) wave is coming or is already there.
Raj has already said it above. This isn't only the case in the USA, but elsewhere in the world as well. In my small country, the newspapers are almost filled with football madness as if the world weren't 'on fire'.
If I were an American, I would be a supporter of the Cardinals. Not the sports club however but the bird species. This beautiful (Christmas, 😁) photograph shows why.
