This one reminds me of an egret that I use as a fish locater. He always opens his mouth and fusses when I cast a lure under him. I always wait until catches a shad before I work in the lure, but he fusses, anyway.
Another beautiful shot. I really like the fan of its feathers.
God's magnificent creation is full of beauty waiting to be captured - when you think you've seen it all, something you've never seen comes up and amazes you.

“I knew I could make some wings/ Because I knew the art of trying/ I had done all the passionless things/ Long practiced the poetry of implying/ This was the end of just talking/ The riotous rattling of tongues/ These were the last days of walking/ Into the boredom to come/ The inversion of flesh into feathers/ The alchemy of blood into bone/ An ascent from the tyranny of tethers/ A gravity-led life has condoned/ An act of rebellion and beauty/ The cold inquisition of light/ A caesarean birth of the notion/ The heart in its cage can take flight”/
You seem to have a different lighting on this one, E J. It's a much brighter light than some of your others..just as clear, but different. Must be I'm missing the swamp effect :)
"Where there is perhaps a province in which the photograph can tell us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see." ~Dorothea Lange
What a fabulous bird - such grace & beauty. Love the flare of its wings. Lovely branches make a fine background for this high flyer. Wonderful clarity of the Egret and soft colors, add up to a magnificent image EJ :^>
