Casa Batllo is another wonderful building designed by Antoni Gaudi in 1905-1907..It looks very remarkable -like everything Gaudi designed, only identifiable as Modernisme or Art Nouveau in the broadest sense..The ground floor, in particular ,is rather astonishing with tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work...it seems that the goal of the designer was to avoid straight lines completely...Much of the façade is decorated with mosic made of broken ceramic tiles(named "trencadis")that starts in shades of golden moving into greenish blues...

Looks like it's moving. I like the way you shot it through the tree which adds to its mystique. Appreciate the touch of history. Very nice post.

Adriana, that's another wonderful building indeed. Although everything is beautiful, particular the sculpted stone work is special to me. Wonderful architecture and perfectly captured! Very well done! Regards, Cornelius

A "Gaudi" in the German of Austria and the South of Germany is a lot of fun - Gaudi for sure had a lot of Gaudi working on this beautiful building and I like your shot of it, with the tree, that almost looks like an artwork itself.

Please don't take this the wrong way...I love his man's work and his art is meticulous, but also a bit of fun as well as beautiful. I think that he and Jim Hensen of Muppet fame would have gotten along rather well!

With the tree there it looks more natural than the other buildings, less obtrusive.
What a master he was to recognize the ability to blend rather than to plant his structures upon the landscape.

This building is truly a work of art and you've presented it very nicely. I like the tree in the foreground. It's as twisted as the building is -

I love Gaudi's 'magic' buildings... such works of art with a touch of whimsy thrown in. Lovely.

Another magnificent Gaudi building.
Those buildings are a real piece of art for people to watch... But I think it was like hell for the people who had to make it. ;-)
Great shot!
