It was gray and drizzly in Seattle today and this one always puts sunshine back on my desktop. Taken in the Butchart Gardens, Victoria, British Columbia.
The rotation was to accomplish a more effective composition with the crop.

Anyways, I wanted to provide you with some creative food for thought.
Tightening things up some.. to my eyes.. brought a little more focus to your subjects (i.e. the leaf dropping in from the top is a bit of a distraction).
Make no mistake, though.. as I would agree with your accompanying narrative and here in Ontario your 'sunshine' is most welcomed as well.
I want to thank everyone for their kindness to me over the last few months since my husband's passing. You have helped me in more ways than you will ever know.
And viewed full-size/screen.. the colour contrasts are even more pleasing.
