This swan has been staying at a local park, and recently got a foot/leg entangled in some discarded fishing line as well as getting a hook embedded in his foot. Some volunteers captured him two weeks ago and removed the line and hook, then released him back into the park, where he seems to be healing well. I got this and a few others of him splashing and preening yesterday, and he seemed to be enjoying life, so we have a happy ending it seems.

Unusual pose for this swan Larry. Hope that it felt not threatened by you after having experienced a trauma, as its wings are capable to break someones arm. Therefore I like your words for granted that it seems to be enjoying its life again.

Wonderful capture my friend!

It is so sad when our wildlife become entangled due to human inconsideration - I am glad to hear he was captured and taken care of and released back into the wild. A great photo Larry of the wing action. Is this a lone swan - usually there are two except when one's mate dies.

It was just stretching it's wings, didn't seem to care that I was there clicking away. And it is alone, has been here for several weeks now and no others spotted. The park is an island surrounded by water, and there are ducks and geese that reside here, as well as a lot of migrating birds that stop through and sometimes stay a while.
