Please be gentle, this is my FIRST ever attempt at manipulating various photographs to make an image. I used 4 separate images in total. The "model" is my daughter, so I do have permission to use her picture :) Please be honest but "kind" with your comments, I've NEVER attempted anything like this EVER before :P Thanks!

The tree and it root system by itself is superb. Adding the "fairy" was very imaginative. Nicely done!

For a 'first attempt' you have done very well! I cannot see where 4 seperate images have been used. Adding the 'fairy' is a great idea, and the tree and roots is an excellent image all on its own!
The only other comment I have is that if you had darkened part, or all, of your daughter's image (to make it appear to be in the shadow of the interior of the tree) it would have looked even more realistic, and less of a 'cookie cutter' effect.. Or put a drop shadow on her image around the edge of the bottom of the hole she is in.

The four images are - the tree, Bronwyn, her wings, the flower she is holding - although you can't see such detail so small - I originally put her in the foreground of a wood picture but it looked more fake than Jordan's mammaries rofl

I get what you mean about the "cookie cutter effect" I am learning with The Gimp at the moment, as my partner has finally persuaded me to leave Windows XP and join Linux - so my usual Paint Shop Pro X abilities are not available until I've learned The Gimp ;) (oh how happy I would be if Paint Shop Pro X was available under Linux lol)

I could not do half so well...so please take my comments with that caveat. I might have looked at it without the flower (too much to look at in the tiny space, and muted your fairy's colors down quite a bit to keep more in tone with those wonderful roots. I'd highlight the wings ever so little...just a glint of gold. That way, the viewer would be engrossed in the roots themselves at first and then suddenly come upon a surprise in the little fairy.

So cute. This reminds me of my own step-daughter who is a 'fairy-girly-girl' :)

HOORAY! for you :D ... I love the creative, fantasy nature of this piece.

From one who is (a full-grown adult) Harry Potter fan and proud of it.
