Found this one yesterday when I went for a walk along the Rhine and some of it's swampy river arms at Ingelheim. This guy in his lookout welcomes the guests of an inn called Anglerklause.

OH MY! you mean someone carved this from and in the tree??? That is an amazing find!!! I would have danced around with total happiness!! Or is it a "doll" of some kind that someone set there? Either way, it is really a great pic...thanx so much for posting it!!

Hi Verena, thank you for your nice comment on this picture. It's a kind of doll that someone set there in the tree....and yes, I did actually dance around with total happiness ;-)) Unfortunately I found him very late that day. The daylight was nearly gone, the CF Card of my camera was full and the little pirate was quite high above me. So I quickly checked the pics taken before, deleted two or three of them to get a liitle space, went on my toes and raised my arms as much in the air as I could to shoot him as frontal as possible... That's the story.... and believe me... I was nervous all the way home until I saw the result. I'm glad you like it, this pic was quite difficult to take...

Being quite short I can well appreciate your efforts here. I'm still trying to figure out if I feel welcome or leary though. I guess he is indeed looking out past me so maybe I should just say ahoy, thanks, and head for the reservation desk.

I get kinda scared of things like that, but this is a well done picture and I think this is very unique. Two thumbs up!!!
