On Sunday, February 3, 2013, at 4am, the Guillemot VI, a trawler 17.5 meters long, ran aground on the rocky plateau Wanderers at the entrance of the harbor of Lorient in southern Brittany . A week later, he is "refloated" and towed to the fishing port of Lorient. Following an engine breakdown.

Would that have been bad weather or bad seamanship that caused it!

Good that they will repair and get it seaworthy again...

---Following an engine breakdown---

Christian, I think that people without any maritime expertise hardly can imagine that an engine breakdown is a nightmare for the crew when the ship is near the shore (danger for running ashore). The same for having a fire at 'open sea'.

The crew of the Guillemot VI was lucky that the trawler could be towed to the port of Lorient.

Thanks for another fine maritime image.

Regards, Cornelius.

I enjoyed SEA's remarks, Christian.
Your shot really shows the damage of the rocks.
Well done.
