The Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata), or Colorado potato land, is a species of insects of the order Coleoptera and the family Chrysomelidae the elytra yellow with black stripes, It is approximately 10 millimetres (0.39 in) long. This herbivore, specializing in plants of the Solanaceae family, is a major pest, as in the adult state as larval, crops of potatoes that can destroy in case of total defoliation. It can also attack other solanaceous crops such as tomato and eggplant. If there is a serious problem in some regions (North-eastern United States, Canada, Eastern Europe), it is less feared today in Western Europe and particularly in France.

Myself, from Poland, although not remember those times, then I have watched in movies, on TV all those stories about those horrid American imperialists who spread the pest on pure communist Polish fields! LOL
In the late 1940' or early 1050' actions took place where young people collected the beetles in bottles ... [sounds silly but in China Mao Tse Tung ordered killing all sparrows as I heard...]
Strange enough the bad Americans stopped sending the beetles here or maybe the undersigned are less often out in the fields...:)
One thing wins over all this human silliness - the artistic merits of your wonderful portrait of this infamous and universally known creature.:)
