The Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery) in Vienna was opened in 1874 and is Vienna's largest burial ground by far. There are 330,000 graves and about 3,000,000 people have been buried here during the last 132 years. The Zentralfriedhof has a special section (the so called Ehrengräber) where composers, writers, artists, rich people and politicians are buried. Today Chris and I took a walk in this part of the Zentralfriedhof. There I found this sad Lady. At home I saw the picture and thought, it does not move me that much. After I took almost all colors out of the picture, I liked it more. I hope you do so too.

I really like what you did with this. Just leaving the roses red is a perfect touch. It's been added to my hard drive and in my favorites. Thanks for sharing this.

The treatment you've used here is really very nice Sabine. Taking the color out except for the flowers makes a much stronger statement. It's a beautiful sight and I'm glad you shared it and the history of the Zentralfriedhof. Anita

An inspired decision Sabine! Taking the colour out has created a sensitive, emotional piece enhanced by the touch of colour in the roses. Wonderful, and thanks again for sharing with us some of the rich history of your fair city.
Cheers,
Steve.

This is an extraordinary shot. I really really like the way you took the color from everything exept the roses. It gives the shot a special touch & a special melancolic mood, i love it. The shot is a bit blured, i'd like it clear & detailed... but you can't have all, all the time ;)... Excelent post. Paul

Beauty is no quality in things themselves. It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.

wonderful paint job, I know it can be very difficult to do. The picture is a little soft, but I am sure you needed it that way to convey your message.

Hello Sabine.....You have done a grand job on this one...I like it very much......In spite of the incredible popularity of digital color photography, there will always be room for black and white photographs.....Well done....All the best...Mick.

The reverance and holy depiction of this lady could only have been achieved by depleteing it of all colour. You did a fine job which is evident by the finished product.I'm sure she would be proud of the end result you have created. Thanks for taking the effort to share this with us.......................Jim
