In the 1970s I visited the elementary school and there we learned a lot about our hometown. We also learned about older times, about the "guilds", which people of the same businesses joined. So one day, our class went into the Inner City (without an underground those days it was a trip of more than an hour) to see some of the signs of those guilds, which are still on special places of the city. One of those was the sign of the chimney sweepers and we little people were very impressed by this big guy. As I moved that way last week, I remembered this visit and took a photo for you.

Nice shot. I like this guy too... & the blue sky... very nice. The guy seems very ocupied, but he better watch where he's going :P
Keep up the good work, Paul

PS. i hate when i see old style buildings with air conditioner on them... I have seen around my place even very old churches with ACs all over... very nasty, it ruins the beauty of the building

Beauty is no quality in things themselves. It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.

This is so good he looks almost real. Your capture of him against the bright blue sky is just outstanding. Thanks for sharing it and your narrative is very informative.

Very interesting story Sabine. I didn't realise Chimney Sweeps had a guild too! I love the way you've sillouetted the figure against that gorgeous blue sky.
I hope you warned him about the next step - it's a big one;o))
Cheers,
Steve.

Great capture Sabine and wonderful history, both yours and the city's. I really like this one, it's quaint with a touch of the dramatic. Well done.
