The so-called Roman ruins at Schoenbrunn are a Romantic folly with the appearance of a half-buried palace with Corinthian columns dating from 1778. J. F. Hetzendorf von Hohenberg who designed it wanted to symbolize the fall of Greece before the might of the Roman Empire.

What an interesting tribute to history. It's a bit dark on mine too, but I assume that is because you chose to take it so that the sun would highlight that bit on the left-hand side, inside the arch. I think your choice was good, as the whole idea of a ruin to represent a ruin, in my mind anyway, is a bit on the moody side at any rate ..

Oh well done Sabine ! although this folly is not so old, it looks to me something straight from 2000 years ago ! If you come here again, please shoot some new images from different directions, the folly IS interesting enough for a few sequences.

This is an interesting and well-composed image. I think the darkness is less noticible when viewed full frame, but I still would like to see the shadows lightened just a bit.

Good image, good presentation, the only thing I find is that too much detail is in the shade and shadows, It makes me want to see more.
