The school of Steinbach, Upper Austria. My mother went there - and walked there every morning one hour to reach it.

Sabine this is such a nice image and that fact your mother walked an hour to get there just makes it much more meaningfull. Nicely done. Sandi♥

Beautiful, nostalgic image ... Looks a little like my old primary school building. In colours and architecture. In Szczecin the architecture is very much like in Germany and Austria [as we agreed long time ago ! LOL]. Lovely image !

It was a kinder and gentler time, then. I wouldn't think of letting my daughter walk that far, today. This reminds me a lot of my primary school in Goeppingen in the '50s. Very nice post. Thanks for sharing.

My dad told me the same thing and he added that it was "uphill both ways." What a gorgeous photo and thanks for reminding me of my father. The number I use for my ID is his birthdate. Just my little memorial to him. I love the colors and it looks friendly as a school should. Thanks Sabine.

Think your mother had to walk back in the evening as well Sabine. If so, she walked two hours a day to get the elementary school education. Nowadays hard to image that those things were possible. I fully agree with Don's comment above. Wonderful nostalgic image!

I love the clarity of this image and the red roof on the school. The building has served it's purpose for awhile. Did you go to school here too?
