Sepia works very nicely for this image giving the subject an aged look. Great textures & detail too. Welcome to Caedes & I will be looking forward to more of your work.
Oh what stories this well could tell us! You can just feel the history and you've captured a certain mood here. I agree sepia is perfect; but I would also love to see a summer colour shot of this well. The detail and textures can only be appreciated when viewed in full size. I especially love the pine cones and materials gathered around the base, and the grain in the wood. Thank you for sharing.
This is a really neat "glimpse into yesteryear"...and I think your use of the sepia tones improves this picture over natural coloring. I wish you had found an old object in the vicinity (a broken wheel? an old dishpan?) to put on or against the well housing to give it better scale. If this well isn't too far away from your usual path, I think a companion photograph of it in the spring might be fun.
Thanks for the comments. As a first time poster and a recent digital SLR owner, your comments are very helpful. I may take your advice and take a followup picture in the spring in full vivid color. I also agree that another object in the shot would help define the scale of the structure, which is only about four feet high. Thanks for all of the input!
