I took this picture while I was on a vacation to the Ozarks with my mom and dad and brother. I found this leaf, and took several shots with it in several different situations. I messed with color saturation, contrast, and airbrushed out a few imperfections in the picture. Other than that I left it alone. Didn't even crop it. Let me know what you think. This is a part of a series of three.

Very pretty. Its just a bit bright, (but it could be my monitor. Its about to go out) but its still a lovely photograph. Id like to see the other two. =)

It might be your monitor. Or maybe it is mine? I don't know. We'll wait until someone else comments and then we'll see.

This is great. Looking through a piece of glass while looking through my monitor.

I like that suggestion. I'll have to try black and white. Thanks for the thought!

Nice colors, but I find the lights a little too harsh and distracting. I am also interested in your BW version. :)

Ok, going to jump in here with your first offering on your photographic idea and concept you presented to us, referencing 'a passing moment'.

First, I like the concept. And the colour palette in all three images is very pleasing to my eye.

Caveats? If I may be bold here ... a suggestion ... a much wider shot to encompass more of the water and relegating the leaf to only a portion of the framing. Not as full as you have here and in the other two versions.

In my very humble opinion ... even as presented to us ... the colour palette saves the idea/concept to a degree. As the colours do evoke a nostalgic feeling in my mind.

The 'contrasty' look though would be my only real and true caveat. And this could be simply a matter of personal preferences, no slight intended.

I find myself aborbing the colours, however ... not really finding a focal subject ... despite the prominence of the red leaf itself.

Softer contrasts might work a tad better with the soft focus I perceive.

Not having been there, I don't know what you were facing ... setting wise; background distractions et al. The wider shot suggestion was put forth to allow for more interpretation visually and hopefully ... of the water's current and 'passing' ... and then, that of the 'passenger' of this time. The red leaf.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Still, you had me looking closer before as I did indeed catch these images prior. So ... mission accomplished on that note. Some tweaks ... and I definitely think that you can 'get there from here'.

If a revisit and reshoot is possible? I say, go for it. It is a good idea.

And but of course, thanks for sharing your creative efforts with us. :o)

(This comment will represent the 3 of your similar work 'Moments past', 'A moment' and 'Passing of a moment)

Very good idea of experimenting with different composition. I would go for 'Moments past' because it is the most balanced composition among the 3.

Keep up the good work

I love all of the ones in this series, with the leaves... it's hard to catch something that's really so simple in a photo that is this interesting. I think it has to do with the colors, but also the great mix of textures and lines-- the leaf, the water, the rocks. Great!
