I'm going to go with a sparrow, but I can't be more specific. The background color mixing with reds/browns/blacks of the bird and branches is quite unique, and looks cool.
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Churchill
Hmm ... this might sound a tad harsh, and my apologies as my intention is not to rip on you here ...
Was this a 'save' of sorts? And by that I mean, you ran your image through Photoshop and tried to correct for some soft focus issues?
'Cause I love the composition of your image Matt.
I really think you just missed hitting the mark with a stellar capture by just mere centimeters.
Love your idea of the playing with the DOF and the branches in the setting. And as noted, the colours that have resulted set up some great contrast to highlight your focal subject.
Just looking for that clearer focus.
I would suggest a revisit on this idea. And hopefully you do.
Offered in the spirit of honest feedback ... and as a request. :o)
