This is a lovely shot of a vacation spot, having the environs in which to enjoy it. I am very sorry that the haze is being created by the forest fire.. :(
"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web." Pablo Picasso
When I saw this lovely pic in the VB, I thought: Where did they go???
But now after reading your comment I know. They took the (missing) boat to get to some save place. ;)
If not for the fires, that is a lovely spot to spend your vacation.
Nice work Matt. Really well done on the editing and post-sweetening.
And I am saying that from the vantage point given to me by your previous reply to a comment of mine. Challenging shot to say the least.
Good composition ... think you could kick up the visual intrigue a tad, if you get over your fixation with the supporting poles. (<--- Kidding a little ... a little, here. :oP)
JOKe aside ... the composition is the standout element for me. You managed well in assembling the constituent parts of the setting. I am impressed.
Maybe a slight crop? Eliminate some ... some of the extraneous top area (foreground as well?) most affected by the haze. Sort of a two for one move, clean up the atmo a bit, bring the image right into line with the thirds; horizon and shore ... et al.
Just some nattering nonsense and thoughts from yours truly. :oD
I like it. Worth a revisit in my eyes, once things clear up.
I like this much better than your 1st submission to Morat's assignment #4. There are no people present, but you definitely have the feel of a holiday image. There's a festivity present in the colorful presentation and anticipation. I like this.
