I'm not happy with the lack of resolution in this image but am also unhappy with the lack of coverage of major western fires that are not happening in California. This fire was southwest of Albuquerque in June (2016), and the image was taken from atop Sandia Peak, elevation 10,378 ft. I'm reliably told that the gray smoke is from the burning of natural objects like the "scrub" of New Mexico but the black smoke is from structures burning.

This shows the scale of these fires even though this is just a small part of it. Nice image.

It is concerning and very scary to the homeowners of the area. Good reminder.

It does seem that California is the only state dealing with fires, (Not). It is scary indeed and I hate to think of the loss of habitat, and wildlife. tigs=^..^=
