Because of this picture? I think she's nutty.
This is a very good picture. The angle is different, but in a good way. The whole thing has kind of an almost "horror movie" feel. It's dark, the old tree is creepy, the builings add some color. I like it!
Keep it up!

Personally, I think your girl'friend' is flat out wrong. Your exposure of this shot is excellent, and not underexposed, unless the dark and scary feeling was not what you desired. The lighter color added by the houses and clouds contrasts against the darkness and shadows of the rest of the image. This shot probably would not have said anything if it was at a normal, horizontal orientation, because THEN, it would have said nothing and evoked no emotion, and been a snapshot. Most people read left to right, and the fact that that direction is the angle that goes down greatly enhances the horror-movie type emotion. I think you did a good job with this shot. It is not the type of picture people would typically want to gaze at for hours on end, but this type of style definitely has a market today. The trick in photography is to find your niche, and start learning, hunting for ways to use your photography in the manner that most pleases you, whether it be secreting away your photos for only your eyes to see, or hunting out ways to sell them and make them generate cash for you. :) I would highly recommend checking out Ken Rockwell's website; he has a great deal of very, very good information on his site. :) Have a great day, and don't let anyone cause you to stop going where you feel the Lord wants you to go.
