These trees were destroyed by the tiny Pine Beetle. They have destroyed millions of trees throughout the West. A solution, as far as I know, has not been found to rid us of the nasty little bug. One entraupeneur (sic?) has found a use for the trees. He has purchased thousands of these trees and is now using them to make log cabins. The wood is not destroyed and is solid throughout and is perfect for building. The bugs eat only the bark causing the trees to die. Good work! We need more log cabins out here.

Recycling - it's great for the planet! Well done and I like the white background/framing. Good work, Chuck! I need a cabin in the woods without an internet connection!! LOL

It's a great capture of a very sad sight Chuck. The beauty of the forest being taken by these little beasts. I hope they can find a cure to get rid of them soon. Great composition and lighting. Thanks for the post and the newsy description.

I agree with Anita Chuck. Sad to see these great trees destroyed by a tiny little bug. At least they're being put to good use and not just rotting in the forest. Your description is very educational. Thanks for posting this- I didn't realize this was happening.

Pine beatle are a pest throughout. Fortunately we don't have that problem over here, but I know of places and commisioners who do. this is a great shot anyway. Even though the tree is being destryed, you can still see a lot of life in this picture. I must admit, if the forrests round us were destryed, i don't know what i would do with my camera lol.

Exciting snap, however, would like to see it on a black background with minimal framing. Again, a grand take buddy!!
