Another view of downed trees at Pogue Lake. Some of these trees are "blowdown" from high winter winds. Others may have been taken down by the water drowning them. The water in this lake rises in the spring and summer from snow melt. It could contribute to the trees dying and falling over. Some of the trees are definitely killed by the infamous Pine Beetle. I hate that little beast.

Great Post! Its sad to see trees that have been ravaged by the elements but on the bright side..they bring out the greater beauty in the other trees that have not suffered the same demise. Nice clear capture and your educational words help bring this to a greater understanding

A picture is worth a thousand words--that DOES NOT mean I will comment a thousand...It will be a Yay or Nay.

Another really good one Chuck. I sure hope they find a cure for that pesky beetle soon. Your composition and clarity here are right on and thanks for sharing this.

A shame to lose all those trees! Takes so long to replace them. Nice shot showing the live trees through the dead ones.

What a sorry sight ... the image Chuck ... not your photography. Saddens me to see how those insects ravaged those trees ... Beyond that it maddens me to read of thousands of acres of beautiful woodland destroyed for years to come because of some idiot willfully or carelessly starting fires. Such a waste of a natural resource.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

Very unusual looking trees Chuck. I really like the angle you've taken this at looking through the trees to the water. Shame about the trees being killed by these bugs. Maybe one day they'll find a way to get rid of them.
