I still think I remember this nice setting being at the Westin Inn (or it's sister resort) in PV. ☺ And yes! I am still aware it has elements of repetition! :o) You will notice that I dealt with the two umbrellas by removing one of them!
Intriguing shot, Con.
Very much so, on the note of and incorporating the repetitive shapes within frame AND ... the natural framing afforded from those shapes.
Which.. on the latter point segues to my next thought, if I may.
Caveats?
The two umbrellas in the background.
Can't help shaking the thought that using the 'frames' to frame them in their entirety might have elevated your image here.
A compositional challenge, for sure.
And it is difficult from this side of the viewing fence to ascertain just what kind of shift in camera position would accomplish that.
However.. some creative food for thought for you:
"Within Puerta Vallarta" - Cropped ... No longer working because of the copy/paste!
Think it was the center placement of the two umbrellas and that of their view being obstructed that prompted all of the above nonsense from my pea brain.
While still centered somewhat.. tightening the crop puts more focus and attention on the shapes/frames. As well as, putting that lil' more visual emphasis on the negative space created by the frames.
That said..
Kudos on having spotted the photographic opportunity. As it is a unique photo and one that should definitely be noted and applauded.
And..
I envy you the apparent luxury of being able to take in the beach setting from just such a vantage point.
Colours are nice and natural. Clarity and focus are good good.
One last suggestion, and for future reference.. if your camera supports the option of "Auto-Bracketing" ... take a series of shots with the exposure compensation adjusted for you (preset by you, or by the camera defaults).
That way, and once back in the editing chair.. easier to choose and/or correct via post processing if need be. Or, as the link above shows.. and as a creative alternative ... combining the shots.
And make no mistake about the length of the epistle above.. I quite like this one.
So.. you know ...
'Nice shot'.
