Taken from a bridge over the 405 freeway in Irvine (O.C.), CA. My first attempt at a night shot, so any advice is much appreciated.

i drive across that bridge everyday on the way to school. i tried to do a shot like that in the OC and the cops came and told me to close up shot, that a dozen people had called in about me.

You did just fine if this was your first attempt. If you have manual controls on your camera, you might find that a smaller lens opening will give you a much greater depyh of field
( area of sharpness from near to far). Your buildings on the right are much sharper than those on the left. I would suggest f/8 or f/11, and the camera should still take care of the exposure time automatically.
You'll always get the light trails, which is what makes it interesting, but the stationary building lights, etc, should be sharp. I assume you were using a tripod, or some support. Tripod is best for these shots, as the exposure can be fairly long, at smaller apertures.
Good job. Keep experimenting. You'll be amazed at some of the
images you come up with.
