This monsoon thunderstorm brought inches of rain and flooding to the area. I-10 was closed as a result. We didn't get a drop of rain here, but we did get quite a light show. Does anyone else see the woman's face to the right of the lightning flash?

Do you mind letting us in on some of the secrets behind the shot. What kindof camera where you using, if SLR what kind of lens? What were you doing for shutter speed? Aperature? ISO? This is a great shot. It is lighting up that cloud in such an interesting way.

This is incredible! There is so much emotion radiating from this shot that it is hard to capture just a few. Took me a while to find the woman as I was so caught up in everything else!

Oh my ... the beauty of this shot leaves me speechless. What a nice catch! Great job! My husband seen the face .... what I seen at first was a very small depiction of a Godess looking woman (what I seen as a head, my husband was seeing as a nostril). This is breathtaking!

First of all, thanks very much for all the wonderful comments you have left about this image. Now for the details. Camera: Olympus C-5060 on a tripod, set for night photography, fairly wide-angle zoom. Exposure: 4 seconds at f3.5, ISO 250. Image was processed with Noiseware (always a lot of noise in long digital exposures), then run through PhotoImpact where gamma and saturation were increased a bit. Only retouching was to remove a yard light, about a half mile away but an ugly bright spot anyway. Finally, sorry to those I drove crazy looking for that face. It popped right out at me, but everyone sees things differently. It is very small, but to me shows clearly dark hair, eyes, nose, neck and shoulders.

I see the face. Her chin is slightly obscured by a cloud. It popped right out at me, also. Great shot.

i saw one of these light shows while flying over bangladesh in the monsoon seaseon, was the most beautiful thing i have ever witnessed, electric purple clouds lit up from the inside for dozens of miles around, wish i had a good camera then.... well done mate, awesome shot.

Wow it's amazing! Scary but pretty, I like the flash of purples and the golden glows against the deep black darkness! I don't know about seeing a woman's face but if it's creepy looking with a pointed nose and mouth wide open facing the little strip of black....then yeah I see it,hee hee. Anyway, great capture! It must have been eerie seeing this go on, glad you had your camera handy! :)

WOW Thats an amazing display. I love those clouds, so powerful looking. I think I can see a ladys face,, if its the whole of the big black cloud that looks as though she is stretching her neck out to get a better look.

This is a stunning picture, that is going straight into my faves, thank you so much for sharing it.
