I spotted these two Asian boys deeply engrossed in collecting...I think tiny snail shells. They're actually sitting in depressions in the wall of Hohensalzburg Fortress, the great Castle dominating the Salzburg skyline. I watched them for quite a while, fascinated by their level of concentration.

OH Peter! this is soooooooo precious! The looks on those little gusy faces is just magical!! And the simplicity of it all!!....Is that a tiny waterfall? I just love how you have the rock totally emcompassing them, framing them so very perfectly. Their innocence shows and the rock is so strong around them. I love it. I would even love writing a poem about this..Might just give it a try....I love these photos you've taken on your trip...Will enjoy seeing more...thank you for posting this one especially my friend!!!

I agree, Verenabloo. The ancient, rugged and powerful texture of the stone foundation of a massive fortress plays well against the fragile, innocent textures of the children. And some how the flower plays into it as well. Life amid the ancient stones. Thanx for your comment.

This really plays with my eyes Peter. It feels as though there is some sort of plane seperation between the two boys. I think it it the horizontal dark band of rock and the fact that everything is in good focus. I like it when I see something that makes me think. There is a evolution thing happening as a counter clockwise spiral created by the new flower and the succession of age between the boys and resting with the stone. Switch the boys position and time reverses and goes clockwise;-) I just happen to be viewing this on an LCD monitor at work so I will not comment on the exposure. Nice capture:-)

The texture of the wall is marvelous, but not distracting. The yellow flowers growing from the crevice somehow enhances the innocence and purtiy of this shot. It leads me to think of how life will find a way, and how it has found a way in these two beautiful children. I find this heartwarming and thought provoking. Thanks for sharing!!!

I really do like this picture! What adorable little boys. The wonder and concentration devoted to simple things by the very young is a lesson to us all. Judy

Nope...all I did was tweak the contrast a small amount using levels.

I really like it, especially that flower in the middle among all the rocks. It's like a seed happened to find the only precious ground and perhaps even water supply, and is now thriving. Who knows which Bible parable I'm talking about? :)

G-d bless,
