This one is for all of you who asked me for more castles. This is an English castle on the East coast keeping watch on the French approach. Johnnathan Strange is said to have cast a spell or two here to ward off Napolean's navy. Sunrise is a lovely time about great castles with it's shadows and golden light. I hope you all enjoy this castle as much as I did building it.

Outstanding, for all us nerds that are fantasy art nuts this is the fulfillment of ultimate castle creation, and for everyone else it will inspire them want to read fairy tales and round table myths.

Velly interesting...looks like a cross between a medevil castle and something a little middle eastern. Not exactly one and not exactly the other either.

Art, I think you might be right about the middle Eastern influence. I can see it myself...don't know where it came from though.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I'm working on Castle Inskeep which is inland, in the mountains. I've done more than a hundred micro renders (small patches) and it's still not quite right.

Oh I simply adore castles and I was struck with awe when I saw this one. The sunset in the mist gives a wonderful touch of fairytale. What struck me most is the 'strategic location' of building a castle which was mentioned in school (not that we learned how to build castles LoL), one of which was at a bend of a river, which in this case is the hillslope looking out to sea. I think the slight Middle Eastern feel comes from the slim towers which are similar to the minarets, very popular in mosque architecture. Large blocky patterns on the outer walls, lil pyramid-shaped roofs at the bottom.. hmmmm very interesting indeed. Nonetheless, what a beaut!

O__O it's so lovely! it looks like a photo. The yellow from the sun rise just pulls it all together. you did a beautiful job dfx. I can see the sun rise effect you were going for because you've included "morning fog", which is common close to bodies of water (like lakes). wow. awesome.
