I design cd covers sometimes. This is one i did using Lollipop-stock from DeviantArt.com image of a young woman. Now she's a pop star! The main manipulations on the photo and background are done with the displace filter. It's a great one to learn as it has many more uses than to warp text to surfaces. In this case I used several fractal patterns to displace pixels in useful ways in this image. I hope you like

Simply fabulous! Your filter and fractal work is astonishing to me. You handle computer programs like a concert pianist handles Gershwin.

The texture is wonderful. And her right eye seems to be waiting to tell us her story. But her facial expression says that she is also content with the wait. "Mermaid Song" is very very good!

Hello Peter:::what a most lovely and intriguing creation! I've missed you around here, and it's wonderful to see this design.
There is a distinct passion in this womans face, and the soft
colours used are just beautiful. The colour of her lips and the same tone in her hair is so pretty. It's truly magnificient..I would love to see another one of your CD covers..Verena

Hi Peter
I'm a photographer who doesn't use Photoshop or anything else similar so Your explanations are wasted on me. But I just want to say what a very neat manip this is, and so well suited to a cd cover too.

Life's around said Phil the 35 millimetre cameraman. I recently went to the doctors, and said I've got icon fever, but he told me there was no cure for the disease.

One key to getting the right effect is adjusting the pixel off set. I used offsets as small as 10 pixels and as big as 100 for this image. The larger your image, the larger the pixel offset is a good rule of thumb as well. Thanx for all the nice comments too.

Peter ... this is gorgeous ! What a fabulous CD cover this makes ! I can see why you design them when you do such quality work. The soft colors are definitely suited to the dreaminess of the girl. Outstanding !!
