This is a rework of Fogz original. I really liked the photo, but thought it could be improved by dramatizing it in black & white and removing some of the distracting elements. I hope I did the original justice :)

I too particularly enjoyed the original and believe you've done a wonderful job on accentuating those parts of it that speak to our emotions...the removal of all distractions helps us focus more on the man and his companion and your choice of b/w adds a stark reality to his age and circumstance in life...great work.
B&W certainly brings this picture to life, as do the other changes. I still think it is cropped left and bottom but it is a stunning picture nevertheless.
I like it very much Bethany! The b&w works really well - just wish I had thought of posting it b&w in the contest :D ...thanks for liking the image enough to want to work on it and for making such a good job of it!

What a beautiful picture, I haven't seen the original yet but this looks amazing, this picture looks like it would definitly be worth a thousand words.
I saw this one up on the front page and just had to congratulate whoever it was that created this, and now I see I need to thank both you and Patti. It's a very nice rendition of her photo.
