This rock formation is at Bhimbetka, Madhya Pradesh(India)which I visited last month. It is a part of the cave monuments that contained remains of a prehistoric culture and includes cave paintings that precede those found in France and Spain. Now it is a protected as a world heritage monument. This natural formation has a breathtaking resemblance to a real animal, the tortoise, and this region was beneath the ocean in the distant hoary past.

Wow, it does resemble a tortoise. It looks like it's pretty high up too. Very interesting.

Interesting picture... Although I would warmify the colors a bit, or saturate them, and increase contrast. RIght now the image has a washed-out look, not much detail visible. If nothing else, i use picasa. Anyway, thank you for sharing... I was really surprised to see a nature-made turtle. cool!

I pretty much agree with your above two comments...a very interesting rock structure for sure and while the photo is pretty good with regards to clarity, it could be a little more striking if you play around with the contrast and saturation levels a little...outside of that a good shot and tks for sharing.:Pat.

I thought it was a sculpture of a snapping turtle... Pretty incredible.
