This is the picture of a prehistoric elephant drawn by humans who took shelter in the Bhimbetka cave complex. These drawings precede the cave paintings discovered in Lascaux and Altamira. This is a World Heritage site and is still relatively less popular than the sites mentioned. It is in the Central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh.

Awesome. You can still see where the artist defined the flare of the ear. Also interesting that the mammoth is rendered is such detail while the man figure beside it is just barely representational. Or is that a giant bird?

How surreal was it to stand in the very spot that our first ancestors stood and see with your own eyes what they drew in detail of their daily life so many years ago? Excellent capture, would love to see more shots like this.
