This meadow is adjacent to my ancestral house in Haripad (Kerala). Now cows graze here in summer and due to the dykes do not retain much water.In my childhood it used to become virtually a lake during the monsoons. I still distinctly remember, when I was a kid- we used to go boating (on "Kettu Vallams")on this seasonal 'lake' ; the boatman rowing us all the way to the nearby river from where the waters flew down to the sea. The waters have flown. So have the years.
