Abstract->Fractal
Following an excellent tutorial on here by nmsmith I have been having fun creating different jewel effects. Loved the fire of this fractal I made and Appophsis so decided to put a jewel in its centre using the same fractal as its heart. I'm pleased with the result. Thanks for looking :-)

Very nicely done. I hope to see a non-red alternative soon (but that's a personal thing, of course). There is _something_ about the jewel that doesn't quite work for me, though I'm not entirely sure what - it looks a bit flat at the bottom/sides, maybe. But I don't know if it is just the background's effect or not, so probably the jewel is fine and it is my eyes. I can't honestly see the fractal in the jewel. That's not a criticism - just an observation in light of your description.
