Pelicans from Kraków's (Poland) ZOO, cleaning their feathers in the afternoon sun. There's a myth saying that pelicans cut their breasts to feed their young with their own blood which is a symbol of devotion. I've seen such a statue (a pelican feeding its young with its own blood from its breast) on top of a well at Malbork Castle (North Poland), which once belonged to the Teutonic Knights. It's only a myth however. The pelicans are rather selfish creatures - their young tend to fight against each other and throw the weakest out from the nest (such pelican is doomed to die). I like this photo none the less because these three pelicans look like they're nudging their chests, just like in the myth.

A very interesting take on the photo. I liked the photo, but by adding the interesting sidebar, it really makes you want to study the photo.

I really like this photo. It is well produced and the contrast between the animals and nature fit the photo nicely as well as the difference in colours. I also love how the rocks capture your eye and give a direction to the Pelicans. Very good job :)!
