This building was constructed back in 1877 and served as a teachers college for much of its existence. For some years it was the location of the YMCA. And them used briefly for the town hall while they argued over where to locate the new town hall after the demolished the old one. There was talk of relocating the public library to the building, but that was turned down due to renovation costs. Chances are that while the bureaucrats argue, the place will deteriorate and be demolished. I have no idea exactly what its being used for now. The photo was cropped to remove unwanted distractions. The skies are still dismal in colour. Your comments welcomed.

Hey Wendell
So thats the place! Wow what a brilliant looking college or Normal School. They sure put an effort into building thing back then that they don't do now! That mansard roof line is really impressive!

Nice shot, Wendell! Nice building too. It would be a real shame if they didn't keep it up.

This is a beautiful Empire style building. I hope the community leaders can find an appropriate use for it so it can 'live on'. Thad

What a grand building Wendell. You've captured it wonderfully. Let us hope that it will be preserved and used for something - a museum perhaps - but there are probably issues with handicapped access, etc. They built they so beautifully back then.

I do hope it doesn't end up being demolished, as it looks to be in fairly good shape. A very stately building, and I especially like the architecture style, including the roof! A most excellent capture, with great details and colours, Wendell!
