A close-up capture of some lilac blossoms shot early last June. These are from a bush in the front yard that my grandfather planted some 30-40 years (or more) ago. Cuttings from the plant have been shared around with family and friends. The bushes are long overdue for a trimming and are getting crowded out by a pine tree. But they continue to put out these lovely blossoms every year. I didn't do much post-photo work on this outside of some lighting corrections and adding the frame. I dedicate the photo to Pat, aka icedancer, for her friendship and encouragement. But she won't see this for a few days as her computer is in the shop (again). I love Lilacs! Ours are starting to bloom right now. As your pictures shows they are such a great springtime bloom. They smell so good as well. You have a beautiful image that I am going to add to my favorites!

These are my all time favorite flower! They smell so pretty...and remind me of my grandmothers everytime I smell them. Too bad their season is so short....but then maybe that is another reason why I love them so. Beautiful close up of these pretties...I can almost smell them.

Oh! Lilac is my most favorite flower in the world!And yours are blooming already? I will have to travel to the house I moved out of and see if they are growing there now too. Oh God, you're having lilacs already! We're still having lots of snow in Finland... Lilacs can be seen in May or early June. Thanks for posting this, I can nearly smell their scent.
