... or Banging Your Head. Whichever title works best for you. I met this young doe on one of the park trails about a month ago. She appeared on a side trail and disappeared into the forest before I could get a good photo. So having nothing better to do besides donate blood to the local mosquito population, I waited around. A short while later she came back out onto the path. Again, I missed my chance for a good shot as she once more stepped into the forest on the other side of the trail. Luckily the trees were well spaced on that side. So I spent the next 30 minutes having a long-winded one-sided conversation with her and trying my best to get a photo of her out in the open. That never happened; and at one point I thought a couple of other hikers on another trail on the other side of her would spook her into flight. But she remained calm and concentrated on browsing and pretty much ignored us. Eventually she got bored of my company and wandered off deeper into the forest. This is one of the better, more presentable shots I managed to take during our time together. Hope you enjoy and your comments welcomed.

She is a very pretty lady! Its a hard thing getting these deer to do what we want them to do,they seem to have a mind of their own! The mosquitoes are different they love us. Great capture and good job!

Wendell - Perhaps another title could be, "If you have an itch, just scratch it." Photographing this deer safe among the trees has a very natural look to it that works very well. Thad

A good shot under the conditions Wendell. Your shot and narrative combined make a very humorous post. Your patience is only exceeded by your bad luck. :)
Great shot.

Well, deer are "shy" by nature and I think you have captured that idea and conveyed it beautifully with this photo. Nice work. (I hope the other hikers didn't hear you talking to the deer)...Great desktop and my grandkids will love it! Fran

My bitten up friend you captured this magnificent creature just right. We don't need to see the whole of the creature it is best like this as it is natural. It says undisturbed and piece full. This is a 100% and the light coming through the trees is Wow.

Hi Wendell! :-))

Even though all the difficulty to get her photo, I love the composition result! "So having nothing better to do besides donate blood to the local mosquito population" - I am laughing a lot here, with all your super fun and well done narrative! FANTASTIC AND DELICIOUS POST! Congratulations my friend!

Hi, Wendell...

If suffering is good for the soul, then you're headed to heaven. Actually I know just how you feel, and I imagine most everyone on Caedes knows just how you feel as well.

Actually your photo is pretty darn good, all things considered. Sorry to hear about the severe blood loss, but at least we know that it's a deer. She's well focused, and the colors are great.

I like the natural look of the shot but of course that is how I see all deer - a glimpse through the trees!

Wendell, under such difficult conditions, I truly feel you did an excellent job here! The lighting really makes this one special, along with the soft vignette-like edges! I'm also enjoying the rich textures in the peeling bark of the tree trunks, the lacy ferns and the doe's back-lit ear! I have spent several afternoons in the past, trying to capture the deer in a forest preserve near my home, and never came up with anything close and as great as this one. I did have one deer post in my gallery, which I recently removed however. I just hope I have the patience you do, on my next trip to the forest :) Marvelous capture! Faved.
