I hope you folks can appreciate all the hard work I went through to get this photo. I had to reroute what seemed like a km of power, cable and telephone wires. Uproot a few utility poles and sign posts. Set up roadblocks and delayed a parade down Main Street. All that and a few more things that are best left unsaid. Now I have to put everything back in it's place. I only wish I had thought to take a before photo... This building originally started out as the town post office back in 1884. When the post office moved to its new building, one of those sad looking glass cubes, it was used as the police station. Then the police got a brand new building a few years back. Town council just happened to be looking for a place to set up business because their old digs were in need of repair that they were unwilling to pay. So instead they decided in their wisdom to renovate this building, doubling it in size, and probably spending more money in the process than repairs to the old townhall. They at least retained the same building style for the addition which was completed in 2004. Thankfully I live outside of town so it wasn't my money they were wasting. Hope you enjoy and your comments welcomed.

You are one funny man Wendell. It must be that Nova Scotia air.
What a great shot and glad to see the town fathers finally did something right.
You sure did something right in the taking of this photo. It is cool and deserves to win. Good luck.

Well it looks like the front entrance is the same. Well at least I think its the same, it looks old. Its a positive thing that they did not tear it to the ground like they do to so many old building! This place still has some flare of the 1880s sorry you had to go through so much to get it;) great picture!

Nicely captured. Like the setting, lighting and clouds - they set off the brick work nicely.

Hello, Wendell...

Thanks for the explanation in your narrative. I'd love to hear sometime about "and a few more things that are best left unsaid." The concrete sign on the front says "Truro Federal Building"; so your tax dollars very easily paid for the renovation.

One way or another it's a beautiful structure. There is very little brickwork around here because of seismic problems; so I really appreciate the great colors and texture that you captured. "Nice shot"

After all your sterling efforts, who couldn't fail to be amazed at this shot, Wendell. It is an imposing building, but my attention is drawn to those magnificent clouds behind it. I'm not sure I'd class 1884 as really old for a building, but best of luck anyway.

Wendell - A nice capture of this renovated old building. I am pleased to see it continue to be used in some form. In England, 126 is just yesterday. On this side of the pond it is old. Well done! Thad

Great story Wen! Well, now that you are done tearing everything apart, can I have my construction hat back? Oh, and sorry I haven't been around much, somehow I fractured my middle finger so typing is somewhat difficult and kinda painstaking... Yea.
