Seeing as proper winter weather has chosen to avoid my neck of the woods, I dug into the bin to drag this shot up. I only dug about wrist deep to retrieve this one. A photo from earlier in the year taken sometime in August. Maybe later, maybe earlier, I'm too lazy to look up the time stamp on the original photo. Another shot taken at the lake where I was doing some work on some cottage owner's property. This shows the narrowest part of the lake. Luckily the slightly hazy sky helped to obscure this huge chimney stack that on a clear day looms in the background; saved me a bit of cloning work not having to remove it.

This started off as a four photo panoramic view of this end of the lake. Which I then whittled down to about a quarter of the size of that photo. I could have just captured it in one photo with the lens set to a wide angle, but then I lose the details I wanted in the shot.

Hope you enjoy and your comments welcomed.

A very beautiful composition Wendell! Bringing a touch of Mother Earth misteries, I like the lightning with the silhouettes, nice blue-gray tone. Well Done.

Wendell this is a stunning photo! love the angle you took the shot from and you captured the colour of the water a 100%,plus the reflections and light running across the scene. Also the haze gives this shot a lovely feel too.

I wish I had your bin, Wendell. It has not stopped raining here for days, and my bin is nearly empty. And you have stunning shots like this just lying around. I really like the stark contrast between the white sky mirrored on the lake which contrasts with the very dark evergreens. The mists on the lake and the few touches of color from the paddle boats balances out the entire composition. It's hard to say that this is your best shot. It's one of my favorites. My eyes aren't as good as yours, but I don't see any noise or flaws in the shot. Since I've always enjoyed your landscapes, it's a welcome relief from the Santa paintings. I'd give this baby a solid 8 and a "fav".

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

Winter is in full force here Wendell. The wettest December on record I heard:) By Tomorrow the Sierra's will have accumulated near 10' of new snow in the last week at the highest elevations!!! Anyway, at least you didn't have to reach in shoulder deep to get this picture for us; we wouldn't want you to pull a muscle just for us:):) A very beautiful lake scene buddy! Thanks for sharing:)
