This is one of those 'I needed a photo to go with the title' photos. Luckily for me there was a shed door handy when the title struck me. Even luckier, it was so weathered that the layers on layers of paint had long ago cracked, chipped and peeled to create some semi-interesting patterns. But I think we can all agree that would have made a rather silly title.

This is a closeup of one of the door panels. Rotated, flipped and tricked out. One of the first things to go was the colour. After all this is about texture not colour. Several adjustments later and I ended up with something that looked nothing like this. Mistakes were made and blame quickly shifted elsewhere. Then just because I had one hanging around I threw in a free frame.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

Astounding and amazing detail in this pic., Wendell. The full sized version is glorious. I just downloaded a copy for today's desk top and faved the shot.

P.S. I noticed that the last time you tried some texture work was the oil spill shot that you posted six+ months ago. I liked it, but the C-Index rivaled "My Shadow". I'll check back in a few weeks and see how this one made out.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

If I was going to blame someone it would be one of the three Behr's or perhaps that Dutch Boy that lives down the street. You know Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams wouldn't be at fault. It might be that fellow that is always so Glidden and drives that new Valspar, Wendell. I think there is enough blame to go around but kudos to you for spying such a shot in the first place.

And they said you weren't all you were cracked up to be! Seriously this is very clever work and your post work only enhanced it.

It could be a ice puzzle also :-) Different and interesting patterns and texture, Wendell.

I'd tip my hat, if I had a hat which I don't....never cared much for hats because as a child..................... never mind. Lets talk about your image here instead:) Let's pretend I have a hat and that I am tipping it toward you Wendell:):) How does it feel? I do it because this is awesome, simple and perfect for the contest.I'm glad you only flipped it and not flopped it to make it presentable!! So who got the blame anyway?? Totally cool image buddy and I love your style and so there. I do occasionally wear a hat but this is not about me so I go now:):)

Looks a bit like a map of Boston. It's a very imaginative and creative idea, well executed, and ideal for the contest. The frame does indeed enhance the image. Congratulations.
