It's always nice to have a friend you can rely on in those tough situations in life. Especially one willing to lend a hand, or beak as the case my be. I spied these two fine feathered friends hanging out together last summer. So while they were otherwise engaged in some mutual grooming I snapped a few pics.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed

Wendell - The one on the right might be saying, "A little lower... yes, right there. That's the itch I just can't reach. Oh, yes, relief!" Thad

A very well composed posting, Wendell. I know you love to photograph crows, black birds, ravens and any other bird that suck up all of the surrounding light, but you did a fine job on extracting a decent amount of detail from the dark feathers of these pals. In that jungle of branches I don't see any obvious cloning. I'm amazed that you were able to get a clear shot at this pair. Either that or you spent some quality time perfecting your cloning skills.

The depth of field is right on the button with blurred foliage and branches in both the foreground and background. I really like the golden colors of the moss growing on the tree although it doesn't detract from the main characters in the show. I wondering if you could have cropped out some of the surrounding foliage to increase the size of the crows.

I'm not afraid of dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

I couldn't help but think of Dumbo's crows Wendell.
This one does evoke emotion.

I had a pet crow once and they did this to the kids! We had to get rid of him when he started pulling hair. Its kinda humorous watching them though. This is a real fine post!

Ms CROW here - love these kind of shots! I have had the same crow family group coming to me for a few years and try as I might - it's hard for me to get quality shots. Their feather coloring can be tricky depending on the light. I especially like that you got a photo of a behaviour/action. This is a keeper for me!
