You would be mistaken if you thought the rodeo was in town. It would also seem I was indirectly responsible for this poor fellow's untimely demise. I had spotted this fine specimen out going about his business and had stopped to snap a few shots. As I moved in closer he figured I was too close for comfort and felt relocation was in order. Had he followed the old adage of "look before you leap" then everything would have been okay. The odds were sort of stacked against him though as there were two of these spiders competing for prime bug catching real estate in the direction he chose to leap. He did put up a valiant, but futile fight, coming close to escaping in the early rounds before succumbing to a fatal bite.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

With my bug phobia I had a hard time looking at this one especially in a very large version - when I did, thought it was pretty amazing Wendell.

Great narrative as always, Wendell

I'm having some trouble discerning exactly what sort of fine specimen I'm looking at. I think I see grasshopper legs and a caterpillar's body. The creature seems to be sitting atop a piece of wood that is hanging from the cobwebs. Time to reassess. The grasshopper is upside down, and his belly looks like a caterpillar? I agree with gizmo1 about the focus. How do those guys at National Geographic end up with shots with perfect focus and perfect depth of filed every time?

Love the background and the beautiful colors in this posting. You did a grand job of capturing the spider and her web. I'm going to head out to my shed now and get some close ups of the black widows.

I think the National Geographic photographers take a lot more shots then we do and they don't get paid for a bad one. We don't even get paid for a good one.
I think the Spider used a little Kung Fu he learned on the Web to get Grasshopper to succumb.

Cool shot and story Wendell.

Bug, it's what for dinner!

The golds and greens are really working well in this composition. Great detail in the web also.
