A slightly different bench than the previous bench. And I don't mean different in the sense that this one has a backrest, that's pretty obvious unless you haven't had a chance to see the other referenced above. Now might be a good time to compare the two for yourself just to make sure I'm not trying to put one over on you. A few, and by few I mean most of you, felt uncomfortable sitting on the aforementioned seat. Fearing a sudden and most unexpected landslide would bury you should you dare take a moment to rest. So I went looking for another possible rest area for your seating pleasure. Luckily this one was just down the road and around a bend or two from the other. I hope it meets with your discerning tastes in the sitting arts.

Now in the interest of full disclosure. You should be aware that several years ago when the last hurricane blew through the area it partially denuded the hill on the right (opposite this scene) of what you would have thought of as healthy trees. The fact they were growing in essentially a vertical rock outcropping might have contributed to their demise, but we may never know. It stands to reason the hurricane might have weakened some of the other trees in the park at the same time.

I will also say that I for one did not test the bench out. Never have in all the years I've roamed though the park. Not that I'm afeared of some tree falling over and crushing me. No, it's the squirrels I don't trust. The little beggars have a direct aim on the old noggin of anyone sitting there.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

I think it is too late for you Wendell. The old noggin has had one too many direct hits. You probably have memory lapses when approaching a bench. This looks like a good place to sit and wait for the men with the jacket that has extra long arms.
If a tree falls, you will not hear it.
Good shot.

Lovely place to set and contemplate as long the hill behind you stays there. So much green to enjoy. Awesome scene.

Very nice, Wendell. There sure is a good pile of firewood, up behind the bench. No wonder you worry about trees coming down.
That bench is probably positioned to aid in population control.

Nicely composed with the path running through the shot and i quiet like the low lighting that is then broken up further into the trees however it feels like there is something lacking. I think that there is simply not enough subject matter. I realise that your focus should be on the bench but the way the path leads your eye into the picture makes you focus on the middle rather than to the left.

I agree - the bench is there but the focus seems to be the path which is okay because it's a lush shot with interest at the end of the path.

Well, Wendell...

The good news is that I don't see any flaws in your shot. Also that looks like a perfectly safe place to rest my weary bones after a long day of watching soap operas on television. The bad news is that I downloaded your shot and checked out the sign which says "Do Not Sit On The Benches". The good news is that because of the sign, you didn't have to clone any families into oblivion in the making of this shot. The bad news is that you didn't get to clone any families into oblivion in the making of this shot, and I know how much you love squeezing the life out of innocent bystanders and families. And whatever you do, don't take Rachel's comments to heart. She told me that she hates your guts but does like your work.
