As promised in my PM to you, I just got out of the shower. What a mess!!
This time my critique will actually involve some dialogue regarding your posting. Have a seat, fasten your seat belt, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Of all of the flower shots this week, this image is my favorite. It's interesting as hell. In the "not full sized" view, these things almost look like sliced bananas. And I agree with your remarkable skills of flower identification. Without a doubt these are a bunch of somethings. I haven't decided if the innards look like reptile skin or little flower buds within the flowers. The focus almost qualifies as being sharp. Sorry to break the bad news to you if you were going for the neighbor's dog shot clarity. Very good DoF and lighting. These look like they were not in the direct sunlight unless this was taken on a cloudy day.
My only complaint/criticism (and I'm not even sure that it bothers me) is the lack of composition. The flowers are just sort of hanging out there which I'm not sure is a bad thing. If this were a grouping of red roses, I'd say something about chopping off the flowers in the bunch. For this particular bunch of somethings, I might have actually gone in a little closer and eliminated all of the green surrounding the bunch. This one get a rare 8 out of 10 from me. Nice work.
I'll check back and see if anybody can identify this stuff.
This is Tansy. It is used as a medicinal herb and for other purposes. And it spreads like crazy! Lovely golden mini-blooms of it here in your fill the frame image.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
After reading COG's link I see there are no flies on it anywhere so it must work as an insect repellent. You should quit trying to get high on it because it will only keep you from having worms. No more sliding across the ground for you.
I do like the photo with all the Tansies. :) Good post Wendell.
I would have guessed an aster as it resembles some of them and I see from Cindy's link they are related - the shot is most interesting and I like the qualities from the editing I see. I am not sure however that DotGer's approval is a good thing on a flower shot.
Well it nice to see you are on dry land again with a lovely shot of bright looking flowers and the detail is very good in this shot. When I enlarged the photo I was expecting to see poor focus but I am wrong it is spot on my friend.Well done and thanks for sharing.
