A tree, a foggy day, a bad photo, a lot of editing work and a little something else went into the making of this photo. Then again maybe I just took a quick snap out the window and didn't give any thought to the editing and composition. I understand photographers are prone to do silly things like that. I get easily confused at times, so who really knows what went into this. Besides me that is, and I ain't telling.

Enjoy or not and your comments welcomed.

The composition's fine and the moodiness of fog is good, too. It's just what's happening along the top border that's slightly distracting. I think it's the sun, but haven't a clue as to what's causing the curved banding, if it actually is banding. I need some fog lights :-)
I can also tell you where to get a good "free" Fog filter if you're interested.

A tree grows in Nova Scotia and you got a shot of it Wendell. Looks like someone was in a fog besides you.

I like this foggy shot. Is it the hillside on the left that give the effect of waves or something. You are going to put it in the tree contest I'm sure, aren't you? Unique image.

I'm very fond of fog. So if a tree falls in the fog does anybody hear it? :D Actually this might make a kinda neat desktop if you did do some editing... :) I wish we had fog here. We hardly ever get fog.

The person seems to be enveloped in the fog and contemplating something...but what? I love this capture...editing or no. Good job! Love the moody B&W.

Very intriguing work Wendell - I doo see the banding but I'm assuming it was intentional and does add interest - I didn't notice the person until it was mentioned and then went back and took another look.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Every photo always has something of interest and this one confirms the rule.

Hi, Wendell...

I haven't been posting and am writing maybe one or two critiques a night. The rest of my day is spent with dealing with car salesmen and insurance companies. Actually that's not true because I spent the morning pretending I'm Wendell. I'm cutting up trees, splitting wood and hauling it in my wheel barrow to my stack of wood before the rains begin.

I read most of the comments above. I agree with the adjectives like moody, intriguing and unique. I guess I would say that your shot is minimalism. The banding which Doug noticed doesn't bother me all that much. For all I know it's actually layers of forest being swallowed by the fog. I'm not even sure if the old pioneer woman on the right is an apparition.

I have no idea if this posting is the result of some wonderful editing and just a lucky shot. The foreground is fabulous, and the monotone just adds to the mystery. Almost looks like a forest fire swept through the area. Whatever you did or didn't do, this is one of the best desktop shots I've seen in weeks. Maybe I'm just sleep deprived. So here we go. I am proud to make this my weekly AC nomination and award you with a fave.

Looks like a shot of a Civil War battlefield to me with all the broken limbs in the foreground and the one lone tree left standing in the early morning fog. Maybe even the woman searching for a loved one. My imagination at work - nice shot, I like -

This is a very gripping image. The mystical atmosphere has been magnificently captured. I see the banding but it kind of adds to the questions the image bring forth - what's going on, who's in it, are those cloud remnants, was it really stormy?
