Thanks for sharing this one Wendell. There is nothing not to like about it. I can't believe more people did not look at it full screen.

I did look full screen and the lighting and shadows in it are great Wendell.

First of all, Wendell, I will put aside my legendary dislike for photos of statues and try to be objective in my decimation of your posting. My eye was immediately drawn to the pigeon on the left who seems to be admiring his exquisite donation to the statue's exterior.

I like what you've done to the background in post photo editing. The effect is phenomenal. Not sure if it's an artistic setting, but it looks grand. I'm disappointed, especially with your skill set, that those trees are blocking both the flag and the insane asylum in the background.

As for the statue, it seems a little too dark to me. A flash might have helped or some sort of backlight command to brighten him up. Nifty colors and I'm especially taken with the reflection on the marble base. However, I'm confused about the chain link at the base. It must be decorative because it certainly doesn't seem to repel the pigeons and probably wouldn't even slow down a child.

I just wrote more than all of the previous comments combined. Amazingly I still managed to say less than any of them. Call it a gift if you must.

Wendell - I think you have superimposed this statue on an image from another location. Isn't it always cloudy or raining in Halifax? lol I took a photo of this same statue from another angle she in NS several years ago, and it is less-than-delightfully blurry. Of course, it was dark overcast, threatening rain, and the P&S in my steady hands, well ....

You captured this with the trees across the plaza, behind which are some of the harbor docks. The critical shipping role of Halifax and Sydney, NS during both World Wars is often overlooked. This is an excellent capture of a fitting tribute to the sailors. Thad

Wow great looking photo and nice sharp detail, plus colours. Some parts of the photo look a bit strange like the see through part of the statue base and flags stuck in the top of the trees. But apart from that great looking photo.
