Neat shot, Wendell. You might try cropping it in from the left, as far as the remaining paint on the top board. It decentralizes the bird, and increases it's prominence, even though it's a big one.
I took a couple of shots of ravens or crows when I was stopping every mile driving up Highway 1 last week. I think I might have one that's almost as good as this. There's something about the blackness that sucks almost all the detail out of the bird. Don't know if you ever saw Hitchcock's "The Birds". When you're in Bodega Bay (where it was filmed) many of the crows and seagulls and descendants of the birds that he brought in for the film. They also have excellent squid there.
What does this have to do with your shot? Not a damn thing. Just my opinion, but you seem to have the same problem as me when shooting these pesky creatures. You've managed to bring out some of his detail, but there's something funky with a tiny halo around his body. Maybe he lives down by the nuclear power plant when he's not perched on his favorite bench.
I really like all the wonderful detail and what a marvelous shot with great lighting and clarity. I feel like I can come right into the view and have a sit down with Mrs. Crow
