Some stubborn oak leaves sending out mixed messages. In a season when most other leaves have seen fit to give up the fight and decompose already these oaks hang on through most of the winter. Not that there's anything wrong with having a splash of colour on an otherwise bleak landscape.

These are known as Nesters, Wendell. They will do battle with the Cattlemen and squirrels next spring.

We have some of those kind of oaks around my town as well - I like them in the winter with a little snow as your image shows - nice one.

That looks like one of my neighbours tree, he has a oak and still a bunch left.
