Artistic effects are so much fun to play with, no matter what the quality of the base photo is. This came out nicely Wendell and judging by the overall high-quality of your photography, I'd bet the original wasn't as bad as you claim.

Well, if it wasn't for the 'long line of poorly shot images' we may not have some of the great manipulations either and I think this made a great candidate for the sketchy look as it turned out quite well.
