According to the signage this is a red maple. And I have yet to meet a sign that didn't hold some vestige of truth. With the exception of those wet paint signs you see slapped on objects all over the place; they particularly like pasting them on park benches for some reason. Unless you've personally witnessed the paint being recently applied you have to touch it to believe it. None of this has anything to do with the bench in the scene that most of you stopped by to see.

The bench almost looks like an ancient throne made out of stone! A very pleasant scene!

That's a fine structure of a bench mate..the rounded side 'nooks' would be just fine to fit slumbering head too!..A bench that would last a while!

Whoa for being a red maple, sure doesn't look like one to me, the leaves are really quit green, but a few have red. But this is a great looking bench and looks like it's made of cement to me. Very peaceful and relaxing place to sit down and enjoy the surroundings

What a wonderful large bench seat this is my friend and you captured this unusual scene in all it glory .It like a memorial to the great forest and the detail is stunning plus lovely natures colours too.i believe it is freshly painted I can see were you sat down then realising the error of your ways kick out turfs of grass lol.
