This here contraption finds itself on the town square. Turns out the square itself is a lie and it's actually a rectangle. No doubt at some point in time it was roughly square shape and then it got whittled down over the years as things were built up around it. And that should be the first clue that something ain't right. As near as I can tell this contraption is one of them tourist trap thingamabobs. Now what exactly it is they do with the tourists once they is trapped escapes me. But I figure this is where the term alien abduction comes from. I did hear in some places they force the tourist to buy Suven Ears before they are released. Now I'd like to think I know all the names of the wild critters in the area. I just don't recall ever hearing about suvens. But I figure it has to be some small big eared creature, most likely a member of the rodent family. If anyone knows differently I wouldn't mind being set straight. Now I have no idea why anyone would want the ear of a suven, but it's probably something like folks carrying around rabbit's feet. And you would think some critter with large ears would hear you coming and easily escape capture.

Enjoy and remember when you are out and about on your travels to take plenty of photos, don't fall for these gimmicks and to save the suven ears.

I've visited many places where I bought Suven Ears after being caught in a tourist's trap. BTW, Wendell, your narrative was very funny!!! I also like the shot of your town square.....err.....town rectangle. Well done!!!!!

A very entertaining intro and such a cute statue and 'contraption'...why don't you put it in the current contest...afterall it is a 'tourist trap thingamabob' for your neck of the woods...great post and best of luck should you decide to make this a contest entry.

Halifax & Truro are both place names over here too!...

Unusual piece here..I like the composition you did!...Must be reminiscient of the old Wild West 'Wells Fargo'....

Never heard of a Suven though!....lol

I have a whole boxful of them blasted suven ears! I just keep it out in the shed so they don't draw flies in the house. Every time I go somewhere, I get talked into buying more of them. I'll never learn!...as for your picture here, I sure would like to have that wooden statue of that guy in my yard..right next to the plastic pink flamingos! I might be tempted to stick a cowboy hat on him though, so he looks more like a redneck. I can't have my neighbors thinking I am getting class or something! The rest of the shot is pretty cool too. Good luck in the contest, Wendell.

Thank you for the warning -- if I ever go there, I'll take care and not get caught in the tourist trap. :-)

I like the colours in this photo, especially the warmth of the figure. Good luck in the contest!

(Have just been told the Easter Bunny is downstairs.... gotta go).
